The objective of the study is an analysis of the costs of cash usage for different market participants and reasons for the high rate of cash usage in Germany. The analysis is carried out on the base of the sectors trading, banks, government and private individuals.

The study "Mobile Payment – where is the Journey heading? Opportunities and Risks for Market Participants in Europe" is the first investigation by the Research Center for Financial Services at the Steinbeis University Berlin to analyse trends and developments on the European Mobile Payment-market. The objective of the study is the appraisal of requirements for the establishment of Mobile Payment. Furthermore, a presentation of several possible business models for Mobile Payment as well as a description of market-potentials until 2020 is carried out. The study is based on interviews of 41 traders in Germany and 1.613 customers in Germany, Italy and France.
